The Communications Workers of America announced that 17,000 AT&T Southeast are on a ULP Strike on August 16, 2024. CWA states that AT&T is not bargaining in bad faith, engaging in surface bargaining, and not sending representatives to the bargaining table with the authority to make decisions.
Beth Allen, Communications Director for CWA say it is unknown how long the strike is expected to last or when negotiations will begin again.
The Local’s mobilization effort lead us to this moment. If our members are engaged and involved and believe, then we can affect and make some positives changes. Now we are on strike not because the members want it, it’s because AT&T decided to make the bargaining process a mockery by sending representatives that can not make any decisions. If they are serious, they would respect its employees enough to bargaining in a serious and professional manner. This ULP strike is on AT&T, not the hard working man and woman who have helped make it as profitable as it is.
