On a hot Thursday morning, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz came to one of the CWA picket lines to support the workers in their struggle for a fair contract. With the cost of living increasing year over year, Amy workers are struggling to make their rent, fill up their gas tanks and putting food on the table. Wages have not kept up with the cost of living in South Florida, even as inflation has steadily dropped, the elevated prices have not. “This has made it difficult to live in South Florida” says Mario Pineda wire technician that works in the Flagler area. If costs do not come down and borrowers call in the debt, we will have massive shift that will cause layoffs/unemployment, car repossessions, mortgage foreclosures, loan defaults. Until then we need to fight for pay increases.
